Introducing a revolutionary improvement to...the wedge!
July 15, 2011 (Merrill, WI USA) - Thorogood has announced the introduction of a NEW and IMPROVED
wedge style outsole for it's line of Made in USA American Heritage work boots. The design change will
eventually affect 16 styles currently produced. The new outsole is made of a dual density rubber compound
designed for GREATER SHOCK ABSORPTION and...(here's the kicker)...a LONGER LIFE.
The new outsole also meets the ASTM F 289 standards for slip resistance, just like the Vibram® Cristy
Wedge Sole it replaces. And, it's stays the same color as before...sorta creamy yellow.
Since they were first introduced in 1964, it has been no secret that rubber wedge style soles can wear out
more quickly than other harder polyurethane soles. The advantage of using rubber has always been its
slip resisting qualities in a variety of environmental and jobsite conditions - better than any other material -
much like the car and truck tires we drive on everyday.
Thorogood's new wedge sole is named the MaxWear Wedge (above). It will be manufactured by
the Weinbrenner Shoe Company of Wisconsin. The MaxWear Wedge will be integrated into supplies
as stock is replaced. The outsole will first appear on the steel safety toe styles.
Thorogood's committment to innovation and the highest standards of quality has once again resulted
in the creation of a long-anticipated improvement to one of the best made and most comfortable
work boots available.
